WNC Sculpture Center Artists to Lead Blacksmithing Workshop at PSF

Forge your own outdoor plant stake in this 5 hour workshop! This
session will introduce basic blacksmithing techniques and exploring
personal creativity. You will learn blacksmithing hammer and tong
basics for intro level forging and hot steel bending. As a participant
in this workshop, you will take home a set of 3, one of a kind forged
plant stakes that you will cherish forever.

Safety: Forging safety will be covered. Personal protection equipment
needed to take this workshop and include, close-toed leather or canvas
shoes or boots, safety glasses and 100% cotton or wool long sleeve
shirt and full length pants without holes or frayed edges as well as
leather gloves.

Tickets: $75 and are available on our Facebook page under “Events” or through Eventbrite.

All proceeds for this workshop will go towards the WNC Sculpture Center that will be housed in the old Stoney Gym at PSF.  The organizers behind the Center are now raising funds to build a roof for the Gym, so that they can begin offering educational programming there.  Already, Joe Bigley, Zach Smith-Johnson, and other artists have begun setting up sculptures surrounding the Gym for the Center’s Sculpture Park.
